DONNER LAKE - Emigrant Trail Museum , Donner Memorial State Park, 530-582-7892 Memorial to ill-fated Donner party, snowbound in 1846-47. Nearly half of the 87 people starved or froze to death. Those who escaped starvation, resorted to cannibalism. Museum and monument.
