Park - 209-296-7488 This 135 acre park was
named for the huge bedrock mortar that the Miwoks
used to grind some of their food; acorns, nuts,
seeds and berries. The 7,700 sq. foot limestone
outcropping has 1,185 motor holes (chaw'ses) and
363 petroglyphs. Some of the village
of the Northern Miwok Native Californians
and the Chaw'se Regional Indian Museum. Hiking
trails, including some with wheelchair access,
